Raiders vs. Broncos Match Preview & Betting Odds 2018/19
September 13, 2018
One of the biggest questions surrounding Denver’s acquisition of Case Keenum was kind of answered in Week One. Was he a one hit wonder or was last season’s success just the beginning? Would that success follow him to his new team?
He completed 64 percent of his passes and threw for 300+ yards and three touchdowns—and three interceptions. So, while it was good, there was also a little bad.
Keenum had the benefit of a decent run game supporting him, and the Denver defense made Russell Wilson work for everything he got. But this week he’ll face a secondary that wasn’t rebuilt in the offseason and held Jared Goff to 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean the Raiders defense played well. It didn’t play poorly in the first half against the Rams. But when the offense began to struggle in the second, so did the defense. Things quickly went from good to bad to awful.
The lack of a running game didn’t help matters much for Derek Carr and the Raiders offense. Marshawn Lynch exhibited his trademark power on a few first-half runs but only carried the ball 11 times for 41 yards.
So—who’s going to win?
Expect the first half to be competitive, but the Broncos will do like the Rams and pull away in the second half. Take the Broncos (-260) to win and cover the spread (5.5) against the Raiders (+210). As for the over/under—this one could be close. It could go either way, but I’d take the under.
