Ravens vs. Chargers Match Preview & Betting Odds 2018/19
December 20, 2018
John Harbaugh made the tough call when he decided to stick with Lamar Jackson despite Joe Flacco being healthy. It’s not hard to understand why. Flacco led the Ravens to a 4-5 record. Jackson has gone 4-1 with his only loss in overtime to the Chiefs.
While Jackson has played a role in each win, the defense deserves a ton of credit. Baltimore’s passing game is unimpressive with Jackson at quarterback. But the Ravens have run for 200+ in four of their last five (all wins).
The Chargers will likely try to force the Ravens to beat them with Jackson passing the ball. In his five starts, he has not thrown more than 25 pass attempts, is completing less than 60 percent of his throws, and has a high of 178 yards.
But stopping the Ravens run game is not going to be an easy task. The Chargers defense is ninth against the run this season. So, they should be able to slow them down. But the key to winning will be keeping them off the field altogether.
Melvin Gordon is expected to make his return, and rookie Justin Jackson has been running well in his absence. But the Chargers go as Philip Rivers and the passing game do. Rivers may be forced to play without one of his best targets, wide receiver Keenan Allen.

So—who’s going to win?
The Ravens defense will make it interesting, but the Chargers are going to be the best team Lamar Jackson has faced. His inability to get the passing game going will be the deciding factor.
Take the Chargers to win, straight up and against the spread. As for the over/under—take the under.
