Leafs vs Rangers Betting December 23rd
December 22, 2017
On Saturday night the Maple Leafs will head to Big Apple for a date with their original six rival New York Rangers.
Toronto (21-13-1) are second in the Atlantic division and are coming off an impressive 8-1 beating of the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue and White put on a clinic in its 100th anniversary game posting a season best eight goals and snapping a mini three game losing streak.
After dropping their game at Columbus on Wednesday night 4-2 the Maple Leafs will play their last game before the Christmas break at Madison Square Garden, and will look to kick off the festive season the right way, with the victory.
Toronto didn’t play all that awful on Wednesday, but surrendering an early 2-0 lead in the first frame is never a good way to get the momentum going. When Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones made it a two goal game the momentum shifted even more into Columbus’ favour.
Toronto are really missing All-Star center Auston Matthews who continues to miss time with what many are suspecting to be a concussion. Matthews missed some time earlier in the season with an upper body injury and the Leafs didn’t miss a beat. They went 5-0 without their star player however it’s been a different story this time around. The Maple Leafs have struggled to the tune of a 1-4 record without Matthews, with the lone win coming on Tuesday night.

The Rangers (19-12-4) have been playing well of late and are a far better team on home ice compared to the road. Their 14 home victories are tied for top spot in the league compared to only five road wins thus far.
The Leafs will be in tough on Saturday night and the two points on the line will no doubt be critical for the Blue and White as they are quickly losing ground in the divisional race to Boston and Montreal.
