Montreal Canadiens vs Los Angeles Kings Match Preview & Betting Odds 2018/19
October 11, 2018
The Montreal Canadiens meet the Los Angeles Kings at the Bell Centre on Thursday night.
Despite having 36 shots, the Canadiens started the season with a narrow 3-2 OT loss to their arch-rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs. They clearly took the positives from that defeat though, as they went on to register an impressive 5-1 win on the road at the Pittsburgh Penguins in their last game. That was a result and scoreline that few hockey predictions envisaged.
The Kings also started their season with a 3-2 OT loss, with the San Jose Sharks coming away with two points at the Staples Center. Like the Habs though, they also quickly recovered to go on and beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-2. The Kings have since played the third game on Tuesday night at Bell MTS Place against the Winnipeg Jets, where they lost 2-1 after taking an early lead.
This looks a very difficult game to call and there’s little to split the teams in terms of the current odds on the Money Line. The Habs are the bookies’ marginal favourites, but it really is too close to call and it’s too early to have any faith in their ability to put together a consistent run of results. It’s worth looking at other markets in this game.
The Kings have allowed three or less goals in 13 of their last 15 competitive games. That’s an impressive defensive record and given the Habs are perhaps not the most reliable finishers (see those aforementioned shot stats against the Maple Leafs), it might be worth considering the Total Goals market in this game, with Under 5.5 being the tip.
Pick: Total Goals Over/ Under – Under 5.5 +100 (Betway)
