Manchester City vs. Arsenal City Betting Pick
June 15, 2020
The Premier League came to a complete stop thanks to the ongoing pandemic. Fans became more and more impatient as weekend after weekend passed without any EPL games. However, after months without any action, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Manchester City are the defending champions, and in any other season their 18-3-7 mark with 57 points would put them in the hunt for the title, but not this season where they sit squarely behind runaway Liverpool.
The room for error is slim, but Man City still has a slight chance of catching Liverpool. However, it would mean Liverpool falling off and crumbling in an unprecedented fashion.
As for Arsenal, they find themselves in the 9th position. Sandwiched between Tottenham and Burnley, Arsenal could overtake Tottenham with a victory in their next fixture.
The restart of the Premier League will feature two of the league’s best scorers going head-to-head. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal has had no trouble finding the back of the net. His brilliant scoring ability has him at 17 goals this season, nearing his career-high of 22 at Arsenal, which was set last season.
Argentinian forward Sergio Aguero may be the most dangerous player on the pitch when action resumes. Sitting third in the league in goals with 16, Aguero has netted the ball from multiple angles this season. One of the most consistent players in the Premier League (and the world), Aguero is an offensive threat every time he laces his cleats. Aguero’s scoring knack is one of the reasons Manchester City has seen success this season.

Which Side Will Prevail When the EPL Resumes?
With magnificent scorers on either side, defense will be key to pulling through with a victory. Manchester City is a well-oiled machine, but they allow their fair share of goals against.
Manchester City is dominant when it comes to scoring. The club is pouring on 2.42 goals per game, which is the highest in the Premier League. This could be disastrous for Arsenal, as they are scoring just 1.42 goals per game. With an already compromised offense, Arsenal may struggle to find the mesh against Manchester City.
I don’t expect Arsenal’s offense to break out this game, so for them to win they will need to stop the best offense in the Premier League. While stranger things have happened, this seems rather unlikely.
Of course, returning to action after months off could throw off chemistry and flow. Still, I see this as a contest where Manchester City dictates the tempo of the game, leading to victory.
Many bookmakers have Manchester City as the favourite in this contest. They are the better team so it’s no surprise to see bookies siding with Man City. With that being said, I think this is a contest for Man City to win on the Moneyline. They are too powerful on both sides of the ball and are expected to give Arsenal a tough-go when they return to action.
Depending on which bookmaker you follow, the over/under for goals could range anywhere from 3 to 3.5. I think this contest has the potential to be high scoring. In their previous meeting, Manchester City were able to drop Arsenal 3-0. If Manchester City manages to keep that offensive pace and Arsenal finds the back of the net once, these teams will hit the over.
I am selecting Manchester City on the Moneyline and for the teams to hit the over of 3.5.
It will be interesting to see if this game is sloppy. With so much time off between competitions, this is a contest that could have an unpredictable outcome. Getting back into the heat of things is like riding a bike for these professional footballers, but they will also need to shake off the rust.
