Canada go into the final looking for a third consecutive regional title, having won both the 2015 and 2017 editions. In defeating Brazil 66-58 in the semifinals they claimed their 17th win on the spin in the AmeriCup on Saturday evening. Shay Colley led the way for the Canadians with 23 points.

Brazil represented by far the toughest opposition in the AmeriCup 2019 to date for Canada, who eased through the group stage with four straight wins over Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic without having to fully exert themselves.

It was straightforward for the USA in the second semifinal too, as they saw off host nation Puerto Rico with a comprehensive 78-54 win, Sylvia Fowles top-scored for the Americans with 17 points.

Canada vs USA FIBA AmeriCup Betting Lines & Picks

In terms of FIBA AmeriCup 2019 Final predictions for this game, how the teams fared against the same opposition in this tournament is as good a guide as any. Unfortunately, the fact that Canada beat Puerto Rico 78-50 in their third group game, while the USA overcame Brazil 89-73 in their final group game offers little edge either way.

There’s probably only going to be fine margins that decide this game, but Canada’s recent dominance in this tournament shouldn’t be overlooked and, on that basis, they are our betting pick to retain their title.
