Eryk Anders vs Khalil Rountree Odds and Betting Prediction
April 10, 2019
Eryk “Ya Boy” Anders (11-3) fights Khalil “The War Horse” Rountree (7-3) in a Light Heavyweight bout in UFC 236 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday 13th April 2019.
This is a fight between two heavy hitters, with seven of Anders’ 11 career wins coming by knockout, while Rountree has five knockouts in seven career victories (including KOs over Daniel Jolly, Paul Craig and Gokhan Saki).
Eryk Anders has lost three of his last four fights, having been stopped by Thiago Santos and losing close split decisions to Lyoto Machida and, in his last fight in December, Elias Theodorou. On the plus side, Anders has also recorded six first-round knockouts, three of which came in under one minute.
Anders comes from a football background as a former linebacker, which perhaps gives him that extra explosiveness. He’s an improving grappler, but he can allow opponents to fight from the outside, which could play in Rountree’s favour.
Rountree is coming off a November loss to Johnny Walker in which he was on the receiving end of a devastating elbow that knocked him out cold. How he reacts to that loss could be crucial here, as such defeats can leave fighters prone to change their style or become more cautious. His other two career losses were by decision to Andrew Sanchez and submission by Tyson Pedro.
Like Anders, Rountree is also renowned a fast starter, having had five first-round finishes.
