Jon Jones Vs Thiago Santos Prediction and Betting Odds - UFC 239 Picks
July 03, 2019
Jon “Bones” Jones (24-1-0-1NC) takes on Thiago “Marreta” Santos (21-6-0) in the Main Event at UFC 239 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night (July 6). At stake will be Jones’s UFC Light Heavyweight Championship title.
Jon Jones comes into this fight on the back of a dominant Unanimous Decision win over Anthony Smith in his last bout in early March. Although the UFC betting odds on Jones in any fight are always prohibitive, there’s little arguing with them. His only defeat came via a disqualification from an illegal elbow against Matt Hamill way back in 2009 in a fight that he was also in total control of.
The 31 year/old American is ranked the No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. A major factor in Jones’s favour is that he has a significant height and reach advantage over Thiago Santos (as he does over the majority of his opponents).
The 35 year-old Brazilian Santos is a former Middleweight who has earned a title shot at Light Heavyweight after victories over Eryk Anders, Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz since moving up a division. All three of Santos’s wins since moving up have been via knockout, with his last KO coming against Blachowicz in the 3rd round in February.
Jon Jones Vs Thiago Santos Betting Lines & Pick
In the Fight Result odds, the UFC betting line on Jones is set at -540 (1.19) with Sports Interaction, while the UFC odds on a Santos win are +450 (5.50) at bet365.
Thiago Santos is the 11th different opponent who has tried to take the Light Heavyweight crown from Jon Jones and should “Bones” succeed in another defence of his title, there will be further calls for him to step-up to Heavyweight.
Santos is no mug, but such is Jones’s record and ability that it’s almost impossible to go against him so when it comes to our UFC betting picks for this or indeed any Jones fight, he has to be the prediction to win. Perhaps one for your parlay/combination bets.
