Rams vs. Saints Match Preview and Betting Odds 2018/19
January 18, 2019
If you are looking for an exciting, high-scoring, fast-paced game that could very well go down to the wire or be won by whoever has the ball last—the NFC Championship is likely going to be just such a game.
Drew Brees and Jared Goff are two of the best quarterbacks in the league. Each leads an offence that is top-5 in scoring and top-ten in total yards per game. The Rams have a slightly better rushing attack (+12.8 yards/game) and passing game (+29 yards/game).
The Rams secondary has also outperformed the Saints (-33 yards/game). But the Saints have a significant advantage defending against the run (-42.1 yards/game).
Being able to run and throw against the Rams defence will give the Saints an advantage. But the Rams may not need to run the ball if they can pass as well as they did back in Week Nine (Goff was 28-4 for 391 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception).
The real question may be whether the Rams defence can slow down the Saints offence. They are going to need to get off to a better start defensively than they did in Week Nine. If they can play as they did against the Cowboys, they’ll be in good shape.
Then again, the Saints offence is going to play a lot better than the Dallas offence did.
This game is going to be an offensive showcase. Both are going to move the ball and score some points. But the Saints defence is going to get that one or two stops– which will win the game for them.
