Raptors vs. Celtics Match Preview and Betting Odds 2018/19
February 25, 2019
Entering the season, the Boston Celtics (37-23) and Toronto Raptors (44-17) were expected to battle it out for Eastern Conference supremacy. Toronto has held up its end, but the Celtics can’t seem to decide who they are. So, it should be an easy one for the Raptors then, right?
Not by any means.
The Celtics are a talented team capable of playing great basketball against the best competition. That much was evident in Thursday night’s one-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. But then they are also that team that plays down to their competition and loses games that should have been easy wins (like Saturday’s loss to the Chicago Bulls).
Toronto is coming off an embarrassing loss to the Orlando Magic Sunday. But before that, they were on a seven-game win streak that saw them playing some unbelievable defence. Not having Kawhi Leonard Sunday (rest) hurt but they still should have beaten the Magic.
Both teams can play great, but they can also flop. So—who’s going to win?
Against a lesser team, it would be easy to say go with the Celtics. But the Raptors have been playing tremendous basketball the last couple weeks. They slipped on Sunday, but they have won their last seven at home against the Celtics.
As for Boston—you just can’t trust them.
Take Toronto to win a good, close game over Boston, straight up and against the spread. As for the over/under—go with the under.
