Rockets vs. Warriors Match Preview and Betting Odds 2018/19
January 03, 2019
It wasn’t that long ago that it appeared as if the Golden State Warriors were going to cruise to another Western Conference Finals and the Houston Rockets were going to be watching the playoffs on television. But that is not the case anymore as the two prepare to face off Thursday night.
Houston has rebounded from their dreadful start to improve to 21-15 following their New Year’s Eve win over the Grizzlies, 113-101.
Golden State has had to deal with a number of injuries this season. But they are struggling to find that consistent level of excellence they have become known for when everyone is healthy. They also won on New Year’s Eve (132-109 over the Suns) to improve to 25-13.
Houston beat the Warriors easily back in November, but Steph Curry was out for that game. This time the Warriors are relatively healthy while the Rockets will be without Chris Paul and Eric Gordon. But their absence will not mean anything if James Harden can continue the scoring binge he has been on (eight consecutive games with 35+ points).
But the Warriors played Harden tough back in November. While he had 27 points, he only shot 8-23. The Rockets can’t beat the Warriors if he has another such night.

So—who’s going to win?
Houston’s defence has improved dramatically in recent weeks, but they are still one of the lesser defensive teams in the league. That does not bode well for them against an offensive powerhouse like Golden State.
