Despite going ahead with a Richie Laryea goal when the teams met in Toronto last season, it was San Jose who came out as 2-1 winners thanks to the two goals from veteran striker Chris Wondolowski.

Even so, the Quakes missed out on the postseason after finishing in eighth in the Western Conference, while the Reds made it to the final of the MLS Cup before losing 3-1 to the Seattle Sounders.

San Jose were fairly strong at home last season though, winning 10 of their 17 games. Toronto only won four of 17 on the road in the regular season, but they drew seven games.

Betting Odds - Winner

Neither team has made drastic changes to their roster over the close season, with the main addition for San Jose being the Mexican central defender Oswaldo Alanis, who is reunited with his former manager at Guadalajara, Matias Almeyda.

Toronto’s main recruit was the diminutive Argentinian midfielder Pablo Piatti from Espanyol. However, the 30 year-old will miss Saturday’s game with a hamstring injury, while Michael Bradley is another absentee for the Reds following ankle surgery.

Earthquakes vs Toronto Betting Lines & MLS Pick

The Match Result MLS betting lines sees San Jose at +101 (2.01) with Sports Interaction, the betting line on the draw is set at +270 (3.70) also with Sports Interaction and Toronto FC can be backed at a top price +250 (3.50) with the bet365 Sportsbook.

It can sometimes take the stronger teams a few games to hit their stride at the start of the season, so although Toronto should again have a more successful campaign than San Jose, the draw might be the best MLS pick in predictions for this game.
