Taylor Townsend vs Bianca Andreescu Prediction & Betting Odds - US Open Previews
September 02, 2019
American qualifier Taylor Townsend will play the Canadian 15th seed Bianca Andreescu in the 4th round of the women’s event at US Open 2019 at Flushing Meadows.
Townsend is coming off a straight sets (7-5 6-2) win over the Romanian Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea. The 23-year-old maintained her fine form and focus, having claimed the biggest win of her career in beating another rather more high-profile Romanian, Simona Halep, in the previous round (2-6 6-3 7-6).
Teenage sensation Andreescu has already had an excellent 2019, having beaten all seven top-10 players she has come up against during this year.
The 19 year-old beat former Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki 6-4 6-4 in the 3rd round and has won all three matches in straight sets this tournament (although not without having had some serious issues with unforced errors). She is also now on a nine-match winning streak overall.
This is no easy match for Andreescu, with Townsend being a serve and volley specialist who heads for the net at every opportunity and she could certainly trouble Andreescu. However, the teenager is not only in excellent form, but she also has by far the greater experience at this stage of major tournaments.
