UFC 250 Betting Pick: Nunes vs. Spencer

The UFC makes a swift return to action with UFC 250 on June 7 at the UFC APEX. This card comes after UFC Fight Night 176 where Gilbert Burns became the number one ranked welterweight in the division after a five-round mauling of former champ Tyron Woodley.

The promotion has been highly efficient since returning to action following the coronavirus pandemic and much credit must go to UFC President Dana White whose unwavering faith in putting on fights has delighted fight fans across the world, much to the chagrin of Bob Arum.

With UFC 250, we’ve been treated to some great fights on both the main card and preliminary card. The big draw is the return of the Women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes (19-4-0) who puts the latter title on the line against Felicia Spencer (8-1-0).

The ‘Lioness’ is on a 10-fight win streak and is a -700 favourite to retain her title against Spencer in her first title fight. Spencer is a tough out and is expected to push Nunes further than she has in previous title fights but remains a +450 underdog to topple Nunes.

Therefore, I think Nunes retains her title in a decision, but Spencer’s stock will rise after this fight.

UFC 250 Co-Main Event Betting Pick

The co-main of UFC 250 sees the return of former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt who faces off against the number five ranked bantamweight Raphael Assuncao. This is a critical fight for the Ohio native who’s been stopped in his last three fights and changes to his camp involving the inclusion of highly-rated coach Mark Henry could see a change in Garbrandt’s mindset as he sets to get back on track.

Despite a three-fight losing streak, ‘No Love’ is a -150 favourite to win while Assuncao, whose resume includes wins over Marlon Moraes, Aljamain Sterling, and former champ TJ Dillashaw comes in as a slight +120 underdog.

I believe Garbrandt will knock out Assuncao (@2.5 with 888Sport) in an entertaining brawl, but this is truly a fight that can go either way.

UFC 250: Sterling vs. Sandhagen Betting Pick

Now… this next fight is one I think the UFC should have done a better job promoting and should have genuine title contentions. Aljamain Sterling vs Cory Sandhagen SHOULD be for the UFC bantamweight championship. There are no two ways about it, the UFC dropped the ball on this one.

For most people, this fight is the number one contender for the title and the winner will go on to face the winner of Jose Aldo and Petr Yan, according to Dana White.

The fight is so close to call but according to sportsbooks, Sterling is a slight -125 favourite while Sandhagen’s odds to win opens at +100. ‘Funkmaster’ wins in a split decision in my opinion but like the other bantamweight fight on the main card, this could go either way.

UFC 250: O’Malley vs. Wineland Betting Pick

It would be disappointing ending this article without talking about the Suga Show. Sean O’Malley faces the toughest test of his career against former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland.

Despite being 35 years of age, the experience and toughness of Wineland will be heck of a test for O’Malley who continues to rise through the ranks of the bantamweight division.

O’Malley yet again is the favourite for the fight with odds coming in at -500, while Wineland’s odds of shocking the world open at +350. Don’t sleep on Wineland in this one… I’m not saying it… but I’m just saying.
