Toronto FC Bio

Toronto FC have only a relatively short history, with a team being agreed in principle in 2005 as the MLS looked to expand, and expand into Canada.

They were the first to do so from the Great White North, joining the Eastern Conference and playing in the division for the very first time in 2007.

Things got off to a slow start but all the while they were able to develop a strong fan base, not wavered by their first two seasons finishing bottom of the conference standings.

2009 was a better year, chasing the play-offs and the early 2010s saw revolution with Jurgen Klinsmann coming in to change how they operated and the style in which they play.

That was further developed in 2013 and after four years transforming into one of the best sides in the MLS, they finally went all the way in 2017, becoming the inaugural Canadian MLS Cup champions, and first domestic treble winners.

They missed the play-offs the following year, but improved once again in 2019 for a title chasing year.
